Chamber Recognizes Mark Laytin
as “Member of the Month”

Chamber President Chris Vulpis announced that this month’s Member of the Month is Mark Laytin of ML Marketing. He is an Internet Safety Advocate, representing Invisus Direct, a provider of internet security solutions for small business and home computer users alike.

When reached for comment, Mark said, “I am honored by this recognition. It caps off my great first year with the Chamber. John Gebbie advised me that if I joined, and participated in the meetings and events, the rewards would be great. Following that advice, my business was growing inside of 6 months, and I was able to help the Chamber develop a new revenue stream as well.”

Mark is now a Chamber Vice President, and Co-Chair of the Website Committee.

“Both my family and business are right here in New Hyde Park. Our daughter received a great education in our local schools, and is doing quite well in college. I have always believed in doing business locally. With the Chamber, I see an opportunity for local businesses to prosper through the exchange of ideas and referrals. When we sponsored a Business Connection night in October, thirty new members recognized that and joined.”

Mark also told us about something else he is proud of. “We also give back to the community where we earn our livings. The Chamber supports local charities through our fundraising efforts, and provides scholarships to deserving students as well.”

Mark also commented, “As we move further into the internet age, the problems of cybercrime, identity theft, and uninvited solicitation of our children are increasing at alarming rates. The FBI says billions of dollars a year are lost to internet crime. That means higher prices for all of us.

“But here is the good news: The Company I represent is leading the fight against cybercrime by providing enterprise level security to small business and home pc users, at a price anyone can afford. We have even set up a permanent fund raiser at the Chamber with the service that my company provides. So, as members protect their business and personal data, they are also helping the Chamber’s charitable work. It’s a win/win for everyone.”
