Ace Hardware of New Hyde Park is one of 13 stores privately owned and operated by the Costello family. Scott Struwing had joined the company in 2003 and in 2005 helped to open the New Hyde Park location and is the store manager. Scott brings many successful years of retail management along with him. Ace is known as the helpful place in the neighborhood by do-it-yourself enthusiasts. Scott says the secret of the store’s success is because of the “legendary customer service that we give each and every one of our customers.” In fact, Ace was ranked Highest in customer satisfaction among home improvement stores 2 years in a row, according to J.D. Power and Associates. BusinessWeek magazine ranked Ace in the top 10 of Customer Service Champs.

Ace is the largest retailer-owned cooperative in the industry and a clear leader in the convenience segment of the home improvement market place in terms of wholesale and retail sales, market share and strength of the brand.

Scott joined the New Hyde Park Chamber in 2005 and is a big supporter in Chamber and community events. His sales knowledge, work ethic and attention to detail not only helped the store to succeed but were instrumental in support of many community functions. Ace also sponsors a team on the Merillon Little League.

In his spare time, Scott enjoys boating on the St. Lawrence River. He likes antique boats, classic cars and gardening. His charitable nature extends to his rescue of two greyhounds, particularly with the Grateful Greyhound rescue organization on Long Island.
