30 Year Anniversary For 2 Members
The Gourmet Bake Shop and
On Friday, October 15, 2021, The Greater New Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce did an anniversary ribbon cutting for The Gourmet Bake Shop and Market Place Publications for their 30 years in business.
The Gourmet Bake Shop has been serving the community in the same location at 775 Hillside Ave., New Hyde Park for 30 years this month. Three decades of providing quality, fresh baked cakes, breads and desserts.
Gourmet Bake Shop owners Joe and Judy Gifoli treated all to an abundance of delicious desserts and some nostalgia too. The store has on display a board of photos of the bakery and staff throughout the 30 years. Another display board shows the ads that were run in the Market Place paper 30 years ago when the store first opened in 1991.
Also celebrating its 30 year anniverary in business is Market Place Publications. Owner Jeanette Frisina has a weekly advertising newspaper delivered direct to the homes and also a digital version serving New Hyde Park and surrounding neighborhoods.
Jeanette designed Joe from Gourmet Bake Shops’ grand opening ads 30 years ago and the two are still doing business with each other today.
These are the kind of business relationships the chamber promotes as well as the importance of shopping local.

1644 Hillside Avenue, in New Hyde Park. The agency was actually opened by John Perrone and John Perrone, Sr. during the 2020 COVID restrictions, so the ribbon cutting was delayed until the time was right. In addition to the Perrones and their staff, the iconic State Farm "Jake" was also present.
Friday, August 6th, The Greater New Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce held a special ribbon-cutting ceremony for Sweet Charlie's Ice Cream Store at 3336 Hillside Avenue (Across from Iceland). Not only are their treats delicious, but each customer's order is made from scratch, right before your very eyes, utilizing a unique technology that freezes the ice cream base while mix-ins are added. It is worth the trip just to watch the helpful and enthusiastic staff create your very own order.
Orange Theory Fitness Center
On Friday, July 23rd, The Greater New Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for a new member of the business community. Baldur and Marian Dujmovits had the Grand Opening for their third Orange Theory Fitness Center. Their first is in Carle Place, the second is in the King Kullen shopping center in Garden City Park, and this brand new one is located at 1706 Lakeville Road, New Hyde Park. Orange Theory is different than other places you could work out in that everything is done in classes, and by reservation. Participants proceed based on age and level of fitness, but all do similar exercises at different levels of intensity, the goals being to raise your monitored heartrate, and increase the activity of your metabolism. They have a dedicated staff that monitors each participant throughout the workouts.
